Birthday Gift

My niece,Melanie, had her birthday yesterday and she turned 11!  I feel that money can be the best gift at this age or almost any age because there are sooooo many electronic devices available and you can not know what the kids have or don't have.  Anyway, yesterday I received my email from Shelly's Images Blog for the Tutorial/Technique Tuesday post.  I like to subscribe to blogs by email to make sure I do not miss any posts from my favorite blogs and I really enjoy the craft tutorials so many awesomely talented crafty people are willing to share freely with those of us less talented people!  Anyway, this tutorial was about making a small gift, money or gift card holder that was shaped like a envelope or clutch purse.  I thought this would be perfect to put my money gift to Melanie in, so quickly made it...it was very easy to make.

Sorry my pictures are so poor, I was taking them in the car on the way to the restaurant where we were celebrating with all of the family.  I did make a couple of modifications to the score lines for the one I made.  I scored it at 2" and the 2.25" from one end and after I put the accordion folds on the other end of the paper, I scored at the bottom of the accordions and then .25" from it to make a flat bottom.  I did not really measure anything ahead of time, just folded it as I went to make sure it would work.

I used:
CTMH- Sonora paper pack (Melanie's favorite colors are purple and green)
         Want2Scrap - bling and pearls
         strand of pearls
         velcro dots
         glue dots and red tape

I did add the strand of pearls to the gift holder so it looked like a small purse.  I just cut a slit on both sides of the top flap and using glue dots secured the strand to the purse.  Do not forget to check out Shelly's Images Blog for this tutorial and others she has, as well as her cute digi images!!

    1. I just found your blog & love the money holders! What a great idea. I am not an 11 year old, but I would love one of these for myself. Looks like it would be great for carrying my cell & lipstick. I just subscribed as a new follower of your & will be checking your blogs out from now on. I am not talented & do not blog about crafts, but I do hope you will check out my blogs & follow me as well. See you soon.
